Fleet Risk & Compliance Manager – Dublin

The role is to operate at a management level within the supply chain leadership team. Supporting all business functions whilst also dealing with insurers, enforcing bodies, trade bodies and major suppliers. The role has responsibility for ensuring governance and best practice policies and ensuring procedures are in place for both Fleet Management and Health & Safety Management, ensuring robust protection measures are in place to reduce accident rates and the risk of enforcement action from enforcing authorities The role is responsible for setting appropriate KPI’s and ensuring business units take the appropriate actions to deliver on the KPI’s, and provide support as necessary to said business units Delivery of strategic topics as well as overseeing day to day activities within the supply chain for R&C compliance The role will ensure appropriate measures are in place to manage risk pro-actively, investigate where serious accident do occur and ensure accident investigations are of a high standard and the correct root causes have been identified and suitable control; measures are adopted Complete R&C audits across the estate, to a high standard, with integrity, fairness and impartiality Oversee relationships with major suppliers for the commercial vehicle fleet and ensure costs outside of contract are managed effectively Ensure any contracts entered into add value and provide a cost effective and stable platform for our operation Be the Line Manager for the H&S team and ensure their work activities are focused around the strategic plans and adding value to the organisation by reducing personal accidents, managing risk and positively affecting the organisations culture .

Knowledge, skills, experience and competencies

The role requires an extensive background and senior experience within Fleet Management and Operations in a high volume, fast paced environment. Qualifications – • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering • Appropriate qualification in Road Transport Operations • HNC / BTEC / H&S Qualifications – desirable but not essential

Influence and secure stakeholder buy in at Director level Identify and implement long term strategies that will ensure the company remains compliant, efficient and frugal Connect the fleet strategy to the business needs ensuring key stakeholders get an outstanding service

Have budgetary and operational understanding to ensure costs and service are delivered

Have strong negotiating skills to ensure the business gets the best deal from all suppliers

The role holder must have empathy with the stakeholders, to ensure the actions and standards implemented are appropriate and in context of a busy operational environment Knowledge & experience to understand how colleagues on the shop floor work and behave Experience in dealing with enforcing authorities (Police, RSA, HSA, Vehicle & Operators Standards Agency, Traffic Commissioner, Health & Safety Executive, Environmental Health,) Digest complex data on performance (insurance & claims reports, telematics, and precedential case law) and translate this into practical advice, communications and action plans.

The role must have a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements around driver working time and tachograph legislation and ensure processes are in place to ensure the organisation is working legally. The role must have a strategic view on upcoming legislation and operating processes (e.g. Future emissions standards, the upcoming truck restrictions for major towns around the UK & Ireland) Excellent leadership and people development skills Communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
